Similar to writing and submitting articles to get your websites name out in the public view, writing and submitting press releases is another valid form of online marketing.

While an article may take an in-depth look at a certain subject, a press release is more of an announcement regarding your site in general or possible an announcement regarding a new feature or happening on your site. The press release is then submitted to some of the major press release distribution sites online and they take care of the rest.

This is a very simple look at press release submission; you still need to pay attention to your anchor text and keywords just as you do in the design of your site and the writing of your articles. It is hard to say how much marketing or advertising value the submitting of press releases has as they are not as widely subscribed to as article databases and feeds are.
