Look out, here comes the red tape. After the many failed attempts by Microsoft to purchase Yahoo, Google and Yahoo teamed up to operate some of their search and advertising results together. This has led to a number of Congressional committees to decide to take a look at this joining of two mega-sized online search companies. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out and how it affects the online developer.

At a time when the economy is questionable and business strategies are constantly being reevaluated, Google has gone and done it again. Google’s profits have beaten the predictions of experts. Overall, sales were up for the Big-G as well. Almost since it burst onto the scene, Google has continued to amaze and confound the experts and it looks like they’ll continue to do so.

Everyone is aware of the awesome advertising potential that lies within MySpace. Getting your advertisement in front of that many younger people is a potential gold mine to a number of companies. Now comes news that MySpace India has launched, could this mean the same thing to another area of the world? Will it take of as quickly? If so, the millions of tech-savvy people from India will soon fill My Space India with profiles and pages of their likes, dislikes, wants, and desires. They’ll then be inundated with banner ads focused at younger people. It may very well be something to look into as far as advertising opportunities.

The Internet Advertising Competition run by the Web Marketing Association recently awarded prizes to its top performers. The big winner was White Horse for the interactive campaign they did for Columbia Sportswear. The rest of the big winners can be seen here.

Yahoo! has teamed with Dunkin’ Donuts in an exclusive advertising deal that would put the Dunkin’ Donuts name on a social networking platform and video player. The video player is designed to bring news from major news venues to Yahoo!’s customers. So now, along with having your morning donut, you can view Dunkin’ Donuts ads with your morning news. When major players in commerce enter these types of agreements, you can be sure that there is great value in online advertising, as opposed to what some analysts think.
