Five Ways To Maximize The Promotion Of Your Website

Analyze Your Web Site Traffic
One of the most important tools that any web host offers to its customers is data pertaining to traffic and indexing. Examining your site traffic and indexing information allows you to see first hand the deficiencies that you need to improve upon.

Get Backlinks And Get Them Now
The more quality backlinks you have, the more traffic you should be getting and the more attractive your site will look to search engines. The better your placement in search engine search results, the more people will see your link based on what they are searching for.

Write Articles
Many sites on the internet allow you to upload articles to their database so others can use them when they need content for their sites. The advantages to this are that it establishes you as an expert in the field you are writing about and also you can include links back to your site usually in the form of an author box.

Offer Something Real - Possibly For Free
People love to get things, especially for free. When people come to your website, if there is a chance they can win something or even get a free ebook, then there is a good chance that they will come back and possibly even recommend your site to their friends and colleagues.

Examine Your Own Site
Most of us forget to take a close look at our own websites when it comes time to think about promotion. One of the best ways to retain visitors to our websites is to have pertinent and informative content, but also to have it laid out well and be easy to access. A sloppy web design or a site littered with broken links makes visitors leave and not come back.

Hopefully you can use the above tips to improve the online promotion of your site.

Use Freebies And Prizes To Attract Visitors To Your Site

by @ 8:49 am. Filed under Advertising Know-How

One well established way to get people to frequent your website or blog is to give things away or award prizes for a contest. People love getting things for free, especially when it is something of at least a little value.

Possible things you can give away (depends largely on your site niche):

A free link on your site.
A cash award paid through paypal.
An online gift card to Amazon or another place.
A physical gift like a free DVD or CD.

and, more!

Holding a fun contest can make your readers and visitors feel like they are more a part of a community when it comes to your site. Awarding a good prize will encourage word to spread about your contest. Take advantage of people’s liking of contests and freebies to increase traffic to your site.

Themed Sponsorship Of A Website - Will It Take Off?

by @ 3:59 pm. Filed under Advertising Examples, Advertising Know-How

A relatively new take on site sponsorship has started being used more and it is worth discussion. Themed sponsorship is when the overall theme of a website is entirely changed and attributed to a new sponsor.

Here is an example of a recent themed sponsorship done at an online forum community:

Original theme that was in use for years:

And here is what happened when they sold off sponsorship of the theme:

Now, with themed sponsorship the changes don’t have to be as dramatic as this, but it is hard to argue that this wouldn’t get the attention of the members of that community. The only real argument is were the changes too much? Were members of the community offended by such drastic changes? And that is a hard argument to settle, although there was much discussion at this site about those things.

Themed sponsorship, if done correctly, could be a great way to reach hundreds or thousands of people devoted to a specific niche. But, it is a fine line you walk as a site owner because you don’t want to scare off your members by having them think your site is under new ownership or has been hacked. Dedicated members of a web community sometimes also don’t like to feel they are being sold something every time they open a new page.

The Advertising Possibilities Of An Online Forum

When it comes to getting the word out about your website or online business, you either want to put your name in front of the most sets of eyes as possible or you want to put your name out to an area where it will be discussed and recommended. When it comes to doing the latter, few places make as much sense in focusing your advertising and marketing time and money as online forums.

Online forums provide a place for people to spend time discussing issues, problems, or ideas. Some forums are focused towards a specific niche and others are more general forums where the discussion of almost any subject is encouraged. The Viability Of Online Advertising

by @ 9:47 am. Filed under Advertising Know-How

There has been a lot of recent discussion involving major companies and their thoughts on online advertising. Online advertising can be expensive and anytime you put real dollars behind it you want to make sure they are well spent. Some companies are thinking they need to spend more on online advertising while others are thinking they need to spend less. The trick is to spend wisely, don’t invest in advertising that doesn’t bring results. To say that millions and millions of people use the internet but advertising on the internet doesn’t work is a joke. But, at the same time thinking that a simple banner ad on a site no one visits will bring you traffic is also a joke. Be innovative and pursue advertising methods that are a little out of the ordinary. You may stumble on the next trend or effective method… and you may be the first one using it.

Advertising On Facebook? Target Correctly.

by @ 5:49 am. Filed under Advertising Know-How, Observations

There has been much talk about advertising to the massive amount of people using Facebook. Facebook is extremely popular, especially among high school and college age kids. To properly monetize the type of traffic that would come from this advertising strategy, you would need to remember who it is that you are targeting. When deciding what products to market at this crowd, remember to keep it young. Dating and singles sites are a prime product to put in front of young people along with almost anything that has something to do with television, music or movies.

This philosophy goes beyond Facebook, when using any type of advertising always keep your target market in mind. You lose sight of that and suddenly you’re spending dollar after dollar on people that are not interested in the product you are trying to move.
